Today I want to share with you some awesome FREE tools I've found that will enhance your adhd web browsing activities. These recommended tools have a focus on PRODUCTIVITY.
Yeah, I know ... I prefer fun too ... I'll post on those another time. Today is productivity day! And these tools ARE fun! You can download any of these by clicking either the picture, or it's title. Now let's get productive!
Firefox Web Browser: I've been using Firefox as my web browser for years, and while I certainly check out the other browsers like Opera, Internet Explorer, Konquerer, etc ... Firefox is hands down, simply the best! No other browser has the countless functions of Firefox via add-ons, nor the incredible capability of truly personalizing your web experience.
Add-ons to Increase Your ADHD Web Productivity:
Wired-Marker: This is very cool! Wired-Marker is a permanent, multi-color highlighter that you can use on web pages! Just like a college textbook, you can go through the web, and highlight the important parts. Later, whenever you decide to return to the page, the highlighting will still be there. And that's not all ... the highlighted content is automatically recorded in a scrapbook and saved!
BlueOrganizer: If you're anything like me, you may go on the net to find out what's going on in the presidential race, but end up reading about the giant platypus for two hours. Who's in the race again? In between, you come across all sorts of interesting things to buy, investigate, and play around. Bookmarks don't quite work ... well, for me anyways.
BlueOrganizer reads and interprets the content of web pages and offers a smarter browsing experience. Looking at an address, find it on Google maps instantly, or when reading a book review, save it to your Amazon Wish List in a click. Want to share what you found on Facebook? A simple click and you're done! And so much more!
Trailfire: This awesome tool lets you mark pages you find interesting by leaving notes on the page, and the notes link themselves together creating a trail - organized any way you want! This makes research loads easier, because you don't have to remember where what was. So as your adhd takes you clicking off to nowhere land ... all you have to do is click yourself back on the trail! WARNING: Using Trailfire allows you to find other people's trails too, and follow them. So don't spend your whole day adventuring through the unblazed trails.
Look for my new Trailfire Group "Blazin' ADHD!" and join me as we blaze trails helping others!
MeeTimer: I'm sure it's just me ... eh, hem ... but I can burn hours taking "just 5 minutes" to look something up. What do you mean it's dinner time already?
This add-on is rather simple, MeeTimer logs where you spend your time, groups it into activities, and actively discourages time wasting. MeeTimer "curbs your procrastination"!
LeechBlock: Still can't keep yourself off the unproductive sites? Then this add-on is for you! LeechBlock is a simple tool you can use to block time-wasting sites while you're working. Just specify which sites you need to block, and add new life to your working day!
PS - Don't tell your boss about this one. A little knowledge in the wrong hands, and ...
Interclue: Since we're talking about stopping time-wasters, I have to tell you about this time-saving Firefox add-on.
Let's say you just can't resist the desire to click on THAT link. With Interclue, you don't have to! It will tell you in advance, about everything that's on THAT page, saving you browsing hours of browsing time, by keeping you from browsing to a page that'll be of no interest.
ReminderFox: This is not your typical, complicated calendar program ... ReminderFox is for people like us, who just need to remember a few things. You know, like birthdays, events, anniversaries, meetings, BILLS ... ReminderFox makes sure you remember the important things using simple lists, alerts, and alarms.
And ... that's my PRODUCTIVITY in a nutshell for today!
There are many other excellent productivity add-ons for Firefox (Zotero for example), and tons of fun add-ons too!
But that's for another post, at another time.
Good luck, and may the force be with you.
